Why a website?

Why do we need a website for our class?

sharing stories with old friends

This website can give us a place to share our stories, life experiences, news, ideas and lots of colorful photographs without the limits that come with a printed publication like the Glade & Glen. Our posts can go up on the site very quickly, and others can comment online at any time.

Take a look at the sample posts on the site now. (Click on Recent Blog Posts.) Compared to their original, limited versions in the old Alumni News, they’re more expansive, thoughtful and colorful — because the site provides more room to tell the rest of the story.

Our classmates have remarkable stories to share.  Great stories!  Many are funny, interesting, charming, thought-provoking. They’re also relevant. After all, we’re all aging (bummer), thinking about working less or not at all, looking for ways to stay challenged and have fun, spend more time with friends, kids and grandkids. And we’re all figuring out how to make that work.

In other words, we're all asking the same questions.  But we're coming up with different answers.  How cool is it to read how others have answered those questions -- and maybe gain some fresh ideas?

catch up with news and events you may have missed

The class website we envision will be much more than just an online channel for personal stories. It will also display class news — about our upcoming 50th reunion, for example. And if you missed a recent event, like Bob Halligan’s fascinating Hang Out at the Rock presentation in December, you’ll be able to replay it on the website.

The site will also provide a place to enjoy seeing lots of class memorabilia — countless old images, HK75 class information, anecdotes, endless memories.

What else? We’re looking for ideas for the website, so please share any that come to mind.

what do you think?

Like so many other class activities (including our reunions, online hangouts…), this website is run by volunteers. And before we launch the expansion we envision for this website, we would like to hear from you and confirm that there is sufficient interest among our classmates to go forward.

Please send your comments, questions and suggestions to HK75class@gmail.com. Tell us if you think you’d enjoy visiting your class website now and then — and if you might contribute some news. All observations and suggestions will be very welcome!

Thanks!
