"I haven't been to the office in two years, one month and 18 days...but who's counting?"

That’s the headline from Peter Arturi, whose commute “has gone from one hour in lousy traffic to one flight of stairs in the morning.”  Peter is doing some consulting for his former law firm in intellectual property matters, and now he is training a young associate to do it, too.  But he still estimates that he is about 90% retired -- and free to attend to more pressing business.

In warm weather Peter concentrates on playing golf and volunteering for his local land trust as a trail monitor.  Of course, he’ll be back on the ice coaching youth hockey this fall.  The photo above shows Peter and his two hockey teams after a game last season at the XL Center in Hartford (where the Hartford Wolf Pack and UCONN hockey teams play).    "The kids love playing on NHL-size ice!"

With a recent visit to Cape Breton Island and another trip to Florida in November, Peter continues to work his way through the world’s top golf courses.  On Cape Breton Island, he sank his first-ever hole-in-one – which turned out to be an expensive triumph, I’m afraid, since he was on the hook for drinks at the bar later on.

One of these days  Peter will offer some advice here at the H-K75 website for anyone looking for a cool golf resort to visit.  For now, he gives us this tip about the course on Cape Breton Island: "For those classmates who are avid golfers, it is well worth the trip, as both courses are fabulous, and the Canadian dollar was then worth U.S. 75¢."

On the home front, the weather is calm and skies are blue.  Denise, Toby (33) and Sam (29) are all well.  Otherwise, Peter says he is "looking forward to seeing everyone at our 45th (yikes!) reunion in a couple of years."

On a sad note, Peter reminisced about the great times he spent with Mike Horn, Phil Halpern, Marcia Wierda and Claudia Steinberg K’77 senior year.  Claudia passed away late last year, and on behalf of Mike, Phil, Marcia and all of us, Peter sends heartfelt sympathy to Claudia’s family.
